Who writes the pages?
The roanokecrashlawyerguide editorial team writes and reviews every page. The team does not publish individual bylines, and no page is signed by a lawyer. The site is a reference, not a law firm. See the disclaimer.
Which sources does the guide use?
Each page states the rule first and then cites its source. The sources, in order of reliance:
- The Code of Virginia on law.lis.virginia.gov, for every state statute cited.
- Federal regulations, for rules that apply to commercial trucks.
- Roanoke-area police agencies and local governments, for report procedures and contacts.
- The Virginia DMV, for crash report requests and fees.
- Each law firm's own website, for the contact details and practice areas shown on the lawyers page.
Statutes are linked in the margin or beside the paragraph they support. Forum posts and news items are not used as a source of legal rules.
What does "last reviewed" mean?
Each page shows the date the team last compared the page with its sources. Laws, fees and agency procedures change, so a recent date does not replace checking the current text.
How do you report an error?
The contact page explains how to check a figure against its source. If a link or a fee looks out of date, rely on the linked statute or agency page.
